Adoption Exchange
The Children's Division
Several Hundred Kansas City area Children are available for adoption and waiting for a permanent
Family to call their own and a permanent place to call Home.  These Children are part of a group of
over 100,000 Children in the United States who are available for adoption and are waiting in
temporary residential, group or foster homes.

Parental rights for these children have been severed by the Courts due to parental death, neglect,
abandonment, abuse, or other problems that make it impossible for them to return to their biological
home.  Most of the Children are school-age and teenagers and more than half of the children are
from minority cultures.  The majority are boys and many are part of sibling groups who need and
desire to stay together.  Some have emotional, behavioral, learning, physical, or mental disabilities.
What they all share in common is the need for the love, care, stability and hope that only a
permanent family can provide.

Children and families are matched based upon the specific needs and desires of the child(ren) along
with the needs, talents, and resources of the adoptive family.

Adoption is an option for single, married, and older adult applicants.  You do not need to own a home
or be wealthy in order to adopt.  Potential adoption subsidies and one-time reimbursement of
adoption expenses make adoption an affordable option for most families.  The primary requirement is
that you can provide a healthy, loving, and nurturing environment for a child and that you have the
emotional resources and parenting abilities to match the specific needs of a particular child.
